Myanmar Mission Trip 2025

Writer: Bob GustafsonBob Gustafson

Can you believe that Love Children Home is celebrating its 30th year of ministry this month? We have walked alongside these leaders and their ministries for decades, witnessing their journeys from trusting God for food and shelter to leading a network of orphanages that serve over 500 children. Their impact has expanded to include churches, a Bible school, a church-planting network, a private school, and multiple businesses that generate sustainable income.

I was truly blessed on this mission trip. I had the joy of bringing my 14-year-old son, Charlie, along with James, who is in his first year of Bible College; Peter, who serves on our Board of Directors; and Paul, our ministry partner from Nepal. Each of them was deeply impacted by the trip, and I continue to hear reports from Myanmar about the difference they made. I asked each of them to share a few words for our April newsletter, and I hope you are encouraged by their experiences—an extension of the impact you have made in Myanmar through years of faithful partnership in this ministry.

Charlie’s Testimony

This was the best week of my life. Spending time with the kids was incredible—they are so full of joy and kindness, the most genuine people I’ve ever met. This experience truly changed my life. It was amazing to see how much joy they have, even though their circumstances are difficult. My dad has often shared a verse from Hosea 2:15, which speaks of God’s promise to transform the “Valley of Pain” into the “Door of Hope.” While in Myanmar, I saw this verse come to life. The boys in this picture were literally rescued from the forest, where they had been hiding after their village was burned down during the ongoing civil war in Myanmar. Despite everything they’ve endured, they treated us with such kindness—they are so resilient. I truly loved this trip.

James’ Testimony

The trip to Myanmar and Love Children Home was the most incredible experience of my life! I witnessed God's love in a way and with a magnitude I had never seen before. American culture often teaches us that life is about material wealth and that happiness comes from acquiring more. However, at LCH, I saw children with very few possessions living life to the fullest, overflowing with joy and love. Their passion for Christ was truly inspiring! I have now seen what it means to live life to the fullest and have witnessed the abundance of God's grace and love. I pray that God will use me to bring that same joy and love to others and to help them share it as well.

Peter’s Testimony

I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have gone on this mission trip to Myanmar with Bob, Paul, James, and Charlie. I’m still in awe of how joyful and free the children are, despite having almost no material possessions. They place their full trust in God for everything and love unconditionally. From the moment we arrived, they loved us first. Being there puts my own problems into perspective, making them seem small. That’s because I’m learning from the children and my missionary brothers to look up to God, trust Him for all things, and let go of the rest. This was the best mission trip ever, and I pray that I can carry the peace and love I experienced there into my daily life—to live as they do: loving first, loving freely, and forgiving others.

Paul’s Testimony

My time at LCH was truly life-changing. Hearing the children’s stories—how they lost their parents yet found hope in a loving, faith-filled family—deeply touched my heart. The presence of God on that campus is undeniable; you can feel it in the children’s passion for Him. I’m inspired to see how soccer has shaped the children’s lives with discipline and confidence. It’s motivated me to bring that same impact to the areas where I work in Nepal. The leadership of Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Rosemary is inspiring, built on prayer, faith, and trust in the Lord. They are examples of the memory verse we had for the chapels, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:5-6. This mission trip stands out among all my experiences, and I am especially grateful for the time spent with Bob—he is truly anointed for this work. I left encouraged and inspired.

We have more mission trips coming up and would love to connect with you about joining us. Our mission trips operate with zero overhead, meaning you only pay for flights, food, and lodging—saving you a significant amount of money. During the trip, you will work alongside local leaders who are dedicated to serving orphans and children, widows and women, and churches and pastors in remote areas. Your participation will be a great encouragement to these ministries, helping them continue their work! Ministry From Kenya Reaching Into Rwanda

Esther Hall recently participated in a mission trip to Rwanda, where they conducted a mission enrichment course for Christ Kingdom Mission College, which supports the local churches in Rwanda. They also taught a mini-course on trauma, equipping the church to serve those who have experienced trauma in their lives and struggle with forgiveness.

Our global partners share a deep passion for cross-cultural missions. Manuel in Cuba has a huge heart for Kenya, Paul has recently joined us for ministry in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Myanmar, Peter in Kitale, Kenya is serving a network of pastors in Uganda, and Esther’s team in Nairobi is actively involved with missions to the northern areas of Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda.

Jesus gave all Christians the calling we know as The Great Commission: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20). We love seeing our global partners active in their villages, nations, and the world.

Myanmar Orphan Story

On our last day in Myanmar, we had the privilege of witnessing a life-changing moment—Min Set Paing securing a job as a chef on a ship. He has worked incredibly hard for this achievement.

Min Set Paing and his sister grew up at Love Children’s Home as orphans from a very young age. Elizabeth Thang is passionate about helping these young adults transition into their next steps in their walk with Jesus, careers, and relationships. It was amazing to see him get a job in that moment. He is set up for success in so many ways and is on his way to building a great future. We are so proud of you, Min Set Paing!

Food For Thought

The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does. The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.

Psalms 145:13-14 NLT

I recently watched a movie based on a group climbing Mount Everest. Some climbers successfully made the ascent, others had to turn back, and some tragically lost their lives on the mountain. In life, we will all face moments of both joy and pain, but we can be assured that the Lord will keep His promises and remain gracious through it all. Let’s keep our eyes fixed on Him.
