Andaman & Nicobar Islands Ministry

Our friends in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been very busy over the past few months. Many hours were spent planning, preparing, and praying for the ministry events that they held in December. This year, outreaches were done together with the church planters that were sent out in 2023. This is an important new strategy for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, because it immediately connects new believers with a pastor and a local church community in a location where no churches have been before.

They shared the gospel through children’s outreaches, mobile truck events, widow’s outreaches, orphan care, and ministry events at the new church plant locations. We are praying that seeds were planted during this time that will result in a great harvest.

Would you be wiling to let me be a little nerdy for a moment with some statistics? I heard this amazing statistic the other day that is mind boggling: a mere 3% increase in a cities’ church plants will double a cities’ number of active Christians within a single generation. Think about that, these 10 church plants that have happened in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. There are around 1,000,000 people that live in the islands, with current estimates that around 20% of the people claim to be Christian. That means that around 100,000 people in the islands have a belief in Jesus. That does not mean that they are active Christians, that number will be significantly lower, just like we see in America. Raja shared with me that the active Christians in the islands is actually closer to 5,000 people. Here is what’s thrilling, with this vision of planting 100 churches by 2030, there will be an increase of well over 3% of church plants and we could see more than 100,000 people come to know Jesus in a real and powerful way in a singular generation.

Historically, movements of God have been accomplished through partnership with preachers and powerhouses. We see this in the Bible with Ezra the priest and Nehemiah the builder, the powerhouse. In 2 Kings 23, Zephaniah the preacher and King Josiah the powerhouse. In the New Testament, in Luke 8, there is Jesus and his disciples, the preachers, and they were funded by the three wealthy ladies Mary, Joanna, and Suzanna.

God has given Going Global Inc. the ability to partner together with churches, ministry schools, and pastors all over the world. We don’t do that alone, rather we do do it alongside of you. Together with your generosity, Going Global Inc. is actively serving as the powerhouse for the preachers that are called to reach the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This same thing is happening in many of the countries where we work.

Myanmar has a church planting effort and ministry school.

Nepal has a church planting effort with dreams of a ministry school.

Kenya has a church planting effort and active pastoral training process.

Cuba has a church planting effort and ministry school, with 2,000 students!

Two verses come to mind as we support pastors in remote areas:

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” — Matthew 9:35-38

Myanmar Update

Many years ago, Peter and Rebecca began to invite local villagers to the Love Children Home campus for a Christmas celebration. Most of the people who came were Buddhist. Each would receive a good meal, a small gift, hear the story of Jesus’ birth and reason for His death. The orphans and Bible school students would bring the Gospel to the crowd with singing, dancing, and drama presentation. Covid brought a temporary halt to this event.

However, this year the Christmas celebration was brought back to life at LCH. Over 1500 people came to celebrate the event. As in the past they heard the Good News of Jesus birth and death. In addition to that, they have been doing other outreach by sending and sharing Bible tracts to all parts of Myanmar. They have already shared more than 2000 tracts and are planning to share more to reach to as many as possible.

In addition to that, last month, Rebecca, and some of the Disciple Bible School students went to two prisons located in Yangon. They not only got to serve meals to 500 inmates, they also got a chance to share the gospel. Now they are planning to go one more prison which is two hours away. Praise the Lord for this effort in Myanmar by our friends at LCH.  Please continue to pray for protection, provision, and wisdom for this wonderful ministry to orphans, widows, pastors, and unbelievers in a country that is being torn apart by war.

Food For Thought

“Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.’ Matthew 5:48 Message Bible

Sometimes we try too hard to be perfect, to be godly human beings. God want us to be like Him as we walk out the details of everyday life—generous, kin, loving, caring, forgiving, gentle.
